Measurement and analysis of biological information and its application to health and medicineResearch Topics

We aim to understand and utilize biosignals to improve health and medical care. By analyzing real-world data collected through IoT devices, our lab develops digital biomarkers for objective assessment and early detection of physical and mental conditions, including subclinical states. We also explore digital, device-based approaches to support behavior change and promote well-being.

  • Real-World Measurement of Biological Data
We are conducting research and development to acquire multiple physiological signals such as heart rate, physical activity, emotional states, and subjective symptoms, in real world-settings using IoT devices like wearables. Our studies employ both intensive longitudinal and cross-sectional approaches to comprehensively capture and analyze biological and behavioral dynamics in daily life.
  • Development of Technologies for Disease State Assessment and Onset Risk Evaluation
From the perspective of the maintenance and disruption of homeodynamics in biological systems, our research focuses on developing digital biomarkers that enable the objective assessment of disease states, onset risk, and conditions of well-being and unwellness based on biological information.
  • Development of Personalized Behavior Change Methods
Based on the continuous, longitudinal assessment of individuals’ mental and physical state in daily life, we are advancing research into personalized behavioral change methods. These methods leverage mobile and digital technologies to reduce health risks and enhance overall well-being.
